A woman from Somerset is set to share her extraordinary journey of resilience and adventure at the Taunton Literary Festival.
Ursula Clare Franklin, from the Quantock Hills, will speak about her quest to see every species of penguin in the world in their natural habitats, following the death of her husband Ralph in 2012.
Her journey, which took her to some of the most remote places on Earth, is documented in her book Mission Penguin, released on Thursday, October 24, and published by Bloomsbury Wildlife.
Mission Penguin: A photographic quest from the Galápagos to Antarctica, chronicles Ms Franklin's multiple expeditions around the Southern Hemisphere to see all 18 species of penguin.
From breeding in forests and deserts to one species even at the equator, her journey was not just about seeing penguins, but also about finding new purpose in life after her personal losses.
Ms Franklin, who will speak at Brendon Books on Monday, November 18, at 7.30pm, was uplifted by the support and encouragement she received from others during her travels, which inspired her to share her story more widely.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at £5 each or £25 for a book and ticket, from Brendon Books, Bath Place, Taunton.
