Shepton Mallet's artists and photographers are invited to capture the town's essence for a new competition, with prizes for winners.
Organised by Shepton Mallet Art and Culture (SMart), the Shepton Mallet Vignettes competition encourages both children and adults to creatively represent iconic buildings, special views, heritage spots, or secret places within the town or its surrounding countryside.
The initiative, supported by Shepton Mallet Town Council, Shepton Community Bookshop, and Somerset Community Foundation, is split into three age categories, each with a prize.
Children 11 and under can win a one-to-one tuition session with an artist.
The 12 to 17-year-olds' winner will receive £250.
Adults, meanwhile, stand a chance to win £400 each for the best painting/drawing and the best photograph.
Free workshops, led by Rev Gill Sakakini and artist Steve Cobbin, will take place in September, October, and November.
Entries will be showcased in an exhibition at Create@#8 in January, with visitors voting for a 'People's Prize.'
The competition's closing date is Saturday, November 30, with details on how to submit work to be announced soon.
A book featuring the winners and highly commended pieces will be published in the new year.
