Children's mental health and wellbeing charity, Young Somerset, has received a £2,000 grant from Somerset Freemasons.
It will help support children and young people who face isolation, lack of confidence, and struggles with mainstream education.
Young Somerset, the primary youth work charity in the county, offers a range of services aimed at boosting the personal, social, economic, and educational development of young people.
Initiatives include targeted youth groups, work placement programmes, and one-to-one educational support.
A 2021 to 2023 impact report showed a significant positive effect on the community.
They managed to increase school attendance by 70 per cent and helped reduce hospital readmissions for self-injury or suicide attempts by more than half.
They have also helped 26 young people obtain paid employment and supported 37 young entrepreneurs in selling their products through their Bold and Brave Shop.
Young Somerset’s service manager, Alex Walker, said: "We are incredibly thankful for the support and donation from the Somerset Freemasons.
"This funding has been distributed across the organisation to provide resources for young people to help them improve their confidence, reduce social isolation and to help them learn new skills."
Geoff Lester from Somerset Freemasons, added: "I am very pleased we have been able to help Young Somerset with their hugely valuable programme for local children who need this crucial support.
"Thanks to Young Somerset, these young people show improvement in all areas of their lives and have a far greater chance of making a better life for themselves in the future."
