ADAM Dance MP is still currently awaiting a reply from the Secretary of State about the future of Yeovil Hospital's Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit.
Whilst welcoming the consultation on the NHS launched last week by the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care, Adam Dance MP is still awaiting an update from Wes Streeting following his letter sent in early August concerning the future of the HASU at Yeovil Hospital.
Adam had anticipated an early meeting with the Minister to explain and to consider the situation in Yeovil which has caused widespread debate.
The decision to move the HASU to Dorchester has little support from local residents and from many of the professionals at Yeovil Hospital.
Adam said: "I am surprised not to have heard back yet from the Secretary of State as he will be aware that the HASU issue has been a cause for concern for many months. I have asked for the decision to be Called-in for the Minister's consideration and until this happens, we are left in limbo.
"With the state of the NHS especially in South Somerset, I believe this needs urgent attention from the Minister who has himself expressed support for keeping health service provision close to where it is needed.
"To help us rebuild the NHS we all need to be putting our views forward to the public consultation."
