TWO Somerset pubs have made the final list for 'Pub of the Year' at this year's Bristol, Bath and Somerset Awards.
The Bristol Bath and Somerset Awards, held on December 5 this year, has selected two Somerset pubs as finalists to be awarded a 'gold award'. for 2024
This could be great for both watering holes, as winners from certain categories will be fast-tracked to represent the region in the national VisitEngland Awards in 2025.
The Bristol Bath and Somerset Awards state that the Pub of the Year award "Recognises pubs that make a significant contribution to tourism in their area, with a food and drink offering that includes quality locally sourced produce."
Last year, The Cotley Inn near Chard won the Gold award for Pub of the Year at the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards for 2023.
The Cross Keys Inn
Based in Lydford on Fosse, The Cross Keys Inn is a traditional country pub "in the heart of Somerset".
The pub boasts "Great real ale and good food", along with a packed schedule of regular events like the Halloween Party last weekend.
The pub also welcomed Amanda Holden, as she popped around as part of her 250-mile bike ride this month.

This isn't the first time that The Cross Keys Inn has made it to these awards, as the pub won the tourism gold award for Bristol, Bath and Somerset at the awards for two years in a row, winning in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
Speaking after hearing the good news, pub owners Dave and Jane said: "Great news! we've just heard we are finalists in the Pub of the Year for Bristol Bath and Somerset (also Wilts and Glos)Tourism Awards.
"So we know we're in the top 3 and the winners will be announced at an award ceremony on December 5. Fingers crossed for a great result!

The Litton
Another great pub nestled in Somerset, The Litton is an award-winning, beautifully designed country pub and boutique hotel.
Set in the countryside, the pub situated inside a hotel offers a "home-away-from-home" experience with award-winning food in the restaurant and comfort and style in all their boutique rooms.
The Somerset drinking spot is just a short drive from Bristol, Bath, Wells and Glastonbury in the sleepy and serene village of Litton.
Competing before at the Bristol Bath and Somerset Awards, the pub won bronze for the best pub award in the 2021/2022 category.
The AA also rated The Litton 5 stars back in 2023, awarding the establishment an award for their breakfast.
