A recreational runner will tackle a 100k endurance challenge to honour his nan and raise funds for a nursing home.
Seb Gange will make his way around Maidenbrook Country Park, Monkton Heathfield on Remembrance Day, November 11, with proceeds going to Dunkirk Memorial House in Bishops Lydeard.
He said: "Dunkirk Memorial House is a truly special place that provides exceptional care and support to veterans and their families.
"The staff’s dedication and compassion made an incredible difference in my nan’s life, offering her comfort, dignity, and love in her final days."
His effort has garnered support from several local businesses, including Strongvox Homes, Medineeds Health and Wellness Clinic, and Imprints Garment and Workwear Branding.
Medineeds and Imprints will provide race and sweat wear to ensure Mr Gange's comfort on the day, with Medineeds also looking after his feet post-run.
Alex Bennett from Prosper Events has also created a comprehensive training plan for him.
Medineeds director Sarah Clauson said: "When we found out about Seb’s amazing run, and the story behind it, we knew this was an endeavour we needed to get behind.
"The whole ethos behind Medineeds is improving the wellbeing of our local community, and we hope that by supporting Seb in practical ways, as well as using our social media to increase the visibility of what he is attempting, we are able to make Seb more comfortable on and after the run, as well as amplify the fundraising effort."
Lisa and Justin Palmer from Imprints added: "We are in awe of Seb’s amazing challenge and are thrilled to be involved.
"Imprints specialises in producing impactful garments and the racewear we’ve contributed includes a massive QR code on the back, so that supporters can quickly and easily make a donation when they see Seb out training, and on November 11 itself."
Mr Gange added: "I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve received from friends, family and particularly my wife Ami who has helped to keep me motivated on each training session.
"Now, I want to give back and ensure that Dunkirk Memorial House can continue its vital work."
