Wetherspoons' Carnival Inn pub is prepared for Bridgwater Carnival 2024, as it expects this weekend’s event to be the busiest ever on record.
Seth Moseley, Manager of The Carnival Inn, anticipates Saturday “will be the biggest single day of the year.”
Speaking about the event, he said: “We started preparing for Bridgwater Carnival at the end of the summer, and since then we’ve been gradually building up our stock as we get nearer to the event.”
He added: “We have a plan for the event. We have lots of staff coming from other pubs, including from Taunton and Weston-super-Mare. Over this weekend, there are no holidays allowed for staff as it’s such a busy time.”
“Just today I have taken a large order of food and drink, ahead of the event. We will move furniture to get everyone in. We will be full on the day, and there will be people waiting to sit at the tables. Staff will also be using radios to signal when tables are free.”
The Carnival Inn has also been selected as one of a select number of pubs across the country to trial a new gourmet burger range.
The burgers include ‘The Big Smoke’ (a 3oz beef patty); ‘Buffalo Burger’ (topped with a spicy chicken wing); and ‘Cheese Meltdown’ (two 3oz beef patties, with American-style cheese). Each includes chips and onion rings, and cost £9.93 with a soft drink – or £11.46 with an alcoholic drink.
