A WELLS woman who clipped a kerb and ended up with her car in the middle of the road after damaging a wheel was nearly twice the drink drive limit.

When police were called to the scene in New Street they found Kerry Ingram walking down the road, but she then confessed she had been driving.

She was slurring her words and smelt of alcohol, and when she took a roadside breath test she gave a positive result and was arrested.

Ingram, 37, of Algar Court admitted a charge of drink driving on August 4 when she appeared before Somerset Magistrates at Yeovil.

Genna Morgan, prosecuting, said police were informed of an accident on New Street in Wells at 4am where a Honda Civic had collided with a pavement and ended up in the middle of the road with a damaged wheel.

“Three people were there and pointed out the defendant who was walking away from the scene, but she then said she was the driver,” she said.

“The officers noted she was slurring her words and smelt of alcohol and when she took a breath test it was positive and she was taken to custody.”

A further test revealed a reading of 64mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg of alcohol.

She said that after finishing work she was “dragged to Kudos nightclub” and said she was sorry for what had happened adding she was completely in the wrong.

The magistrates disqualified Ingram from driving for 17 months and fined her £392 with a £157 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
