A SIX-YEAR-OLD Taunton boy is taking on a charity cycling challenge in honour of his dad who passed away from Type 1 Diabetes two years ago.

To mark what would have been Jack Maven's 30th birthday, November 6, his son Harrison Maven and nephew Finley will peddle their way to school to raise funds for Diabetes UK.

The boys will leave from Harrison's house and cycle around four miles to their school, with family to cheer them along the way.

Liberty Maven said: "My husband and father to my two children passed away two years ago of type 1 diabetes. It will be his 30th birthday and two-year death anniversary in November.

"My six-year-old son, Harrison, has decided to do a bike ride from my house to his school with his cousin to raise money for Diabetes UK on his dad’s 30th birthday. He is so excited and I am so proud."

The boys will be met by a welcoming committee when they arrive, with the "whole school getting involved" by wearing blue on the day. Donations can be made here.

Liberty added: "Both Harrison and Finley are passionate about cycling and are excited to take on this meaningful challenge.

"This ride is not just about raising funds; it’s a way for us to celebrate Jack’s life and contribute to a charity that plays such an important role in supporting those affected by diabetes. Any donation, big or small, will make a difference. Thank you for your support."
