A care home celebrated a resident's 104th birthday.
Staff at St George's care home, at 17 Wilton St, Taunton, celebrated Diana's birthday on October 30.
Diana, who was born in Meysey Hampton, a small village near Cirencester, in 1920, was a member of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANY) during the war, where she proudly drove and maintained ambulances.
This was a vocation that Diana thoroughly enjoyed, and she remains proud of her service.
Throughout her life, Diana has been a resident of Taunton, working for many years in the china department of Hatchers department store.
A proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Diana lived independently until earlier this year.
She moved into St George's in July after deciding she needed a bit more support.
Since then, she has become a cherished member of the home, helping staff fold laundry and keeping her mind sharp with word searches and spelling exercises.
Known for her fun-loving nature, Diana enjoys banter with staff and is always ready for a joke.
The secret to her long life, she says, is a nice glass of Baileys.
Diana received more than 104 birthday cards from the local community, including many from St George's Church in Wilton and local nurseries.
She is now looking forward to Remembrance Sunday celebrations, where she plans to pay her respects to those she served with.
