PLANS for six flats at the former Falcon Hotel in Henlade, Taunton have been resubmitted to Somerset Council.
An application was first made in November 2022 by businessman Harkinder Punni, of John Ware Ltd. Since then, an amended application for the Falcon Hotel on the A358 has been submitted, with architectural plans detailing the layout of the six flats.
The ground floor would see one, two-bedroom flats, along with one, one-bedroom flat. There would also be a three-bedroom flat on each of the first and second floors.
The plans differ from the original layout in 2022, which specified four two-bedroom flats and two one-bedroom flats.
In 2022 and 2023, Somerset West and Taunton Council reported that, as the development is situated within a Designated Protected Area, 25% of the units should be affordable. The authority added that the planning applications “make no mention of, or reference to, affordable housing and policy requirements.”
Work has been underway since February on the former Falcon Hotel to replace the windows and doors, including bay windows and the erection of a canopy. Before the site closed its doors to customers, one room for the night would cost around £39.
