AN owner of a garden centre has provided a positive statement one week on from their business being involved in a devastating fire.
The Old Well Garden Centre, located near Wellington, just off the A38, was engulfed in flames in the early hours of the morning on November 1.
The garden centre was shut for five days and, due to smoke, residents in the local area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
A statement released by a spokesperson from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reads: “Crews have made steady progress through the night using hose reel jets, safety jets and an aerial ladder to control the fire and the incident is beginning to be scaled down as crews locate and dampen down hotspots.”
The beloved garden centre is much loved by the Somerset community and that has been shown within the last two days since The Old Well reopened fully.
The area most affected by the fire damage has been cordoned off and is now awaiting demolition.
