A SOMERSET pub, near Bridgwater, has been shortlisted as a finalist for this year's Taste of the West Awards 'Best Dining Pub'.
The Hood Arms is a historic 17th-Century coaching inn situated in the Somerset village of Kilve on the edge of the Quantock Hills.
The pub, better known to locals as "The Hood", is a family-run inn steeped in history, on the route of the Coleridge Way and close to the Jurassic coastline and beaches of Somerset.
The Inn comes with nine "very comfortable and stylish rooms" that are all dog-friendly.
Tonight (November 12) the team at The Hood Arms are heading to Exeter, where they will find out if they are the winners of 'The Best Dining Pub' in the South West.

The Hood Arms is the only representative from Somerset that has been named in the final for this category with the majority of finalists coming from Devon or Cornwall.
The full list of the six finalists is as follows:
- The Hood Arms, Somerset.
- The Black River Inn, Devon.
- The Agricultural Inn, Devon.
- The NightJar Inn, Devon.
- The Acorn Inn, Devon.
- Plume of Feathers, Cornwall.
Speaking after finding out they were announced as a finalist at this year's Taste of the South West Awards, a spokesperson from The Hood said: "Exciting news!!
"The kitchen team are heading to Exeter on Tuesday for the Taste of the West awards ceremony!
"So proud of what we’ve achieved and excited to see the results.
"We cherish a good family meal and Sunday Roasts are just that, at The Hood, you can enjoy a selection of roast meats with all the trimmings.
"All our food is locally sourced, freshly cooked and lovingly prepared!
"Unfortunately, this does mean we will be closed Tuesday, November 12 and Wednesday, November 13 for Lunch.
"We will be back open as usual from the evening."
