A YEOVIL pensioner has been ordered to stand trial accused of assaulting two of his neighbours during an incident outside his home.
Peter Tutton, 69, of Mount Pleasant, appeared before Somerset Magistrates charged with the offences which are alleged to have taken place on Jun e 21 this year.
Prosecutor Giles Tippett said the defendant was said to have shouted at one of his neighbours, and when the second one came over to assist, he was then pushed.
Tutton pleaded not guilty to assaulting Gary Madge and Thomas by beating them. The court heard that he was claiming he had acted in self defence and claimed that his two neighbours were the aggressors.
A review of the case was conducted and the matters were adjourned until. February 5 when he must appear back before the court at Yeovil to stand trial.
