Award-winning folk duo Jackie Oates and John Spiers are coming to Somerset this Christmas.

The pair, who have been performing together since 2016, will be playing at Halsway Manor, near Crowcombe, on Sunday, December 22.

Known for their love of English traditional folk tunes, they began collaborating after playing together at Nettlebed Folk Club in Henley-on-Thames.

Their second studio album, A Midwinter's Night, was released on December 1.

The album is a mix of traditional Christmas carols and lesser-known Breton carols, featuring songs like O Come O Come Emmanuel and Seafarers Hymn.

It was recorded at Wormwood Studios in North Oxfordshire by Stuart Jones during June and July.

Ms Oates and Mr Spears hope to reflect their shared love of Christmas and the traditions and rituals that are important to them.

These include the annual Headington Quarry Boxing Day Mummers Play and an instrumental version of the Sussex Carol, which features in Ditchling Mummers' Boxing Day tradition.

The duo started working on Christmas material during the lockdown Christmas of 2020, which led to the first 'Christmas At Home' online concert.

Tickets for the much-anticipated Halsway Manor show, which are priced at £15 per person, are available online now.
