A SOMERSET B&B has done well this week, winning two awards on the same night, including B&B of the Year.
Bossington Hall, based in Porlock near Minehead, mopped up by winning B&B of the Year at the Taste of the South West Awards, and Editor’s Choice from the Good Hotel Guide on Tuesday, November 12.
Guy Dewdney and Annie run the house alongside part time workers Frankie, Abby, Emma, Emmie, Bonnie, Sarah, and gardener Chris, who maintains 8 acres of gardens.
Bossington Hall, which only changed to a B&B in response to the pandemic in 2021, has won these awards amongst various other awards recently, including Bronze in the Visit England Awards for Excellence earlier in the year.
The family-run and owned home is located in a spectacular location, with breathtaking views over Bossington Bay and Dunkery Beacon, the highest point in Somerset and Exmoor.
This seems to be becoming a regular occurrence for Bossington Hall, as these latest awards sit alongside the South West Tourism awards B&B of the Year, also won this year, and three years of past Gold awards from Taste of the West.
Speaking after picking up the two awards in one night, Guy said: "Winning these awards has been a culmination of years of very hard work and long hours.
"Having been thrust into the hospitality trade, my team members have all worked together to help me build this amazing business, and this shows that we must be doing something right.
"The Taste of the West award itself is a real test - a ’secret shopper’ stays with us and assesses everything, from the award winning Little Oak Farm sausages, to how clean the shower is, and we aced everything.
"We are incredibly proud of this award in particular, as it showcases the South West’s champion products, from Pasties to Jam to B&B’s.
Speaking about winning the Good Hotel Guide Editor’s Choice award, Guy added: "This is a real honour - the Guide only includes places that have had outstanding reviews and we can only thank our guests who have spent valuable time writing reviews for the Guide."
