THE A361 in Frome, Somerset is fully closed both ways due to a serious three vehicle road traffic collision (RTC) involving five casualties at 1.45pm this afternoon (Friday, November 15) on Jenson Avenue.
Ever since the pile up there has been slow moving traffic on the A361 with stopped queuing traffic during peak times - especially around the County Way Eastbound near The Lamb Pub.
The Avon and Somerset Police team received reports at 1.40pm today (Friday, November 15) of a three-vehicle collision on the A361 Frome Bypass.
Officers attended alongside the ambulance and fire services who closed the road in both directions and still remain on the scene.
The police spokesperson said: "Officers attended, alongside the ambulance and fire services, and closed the road in both directions. They remain at the scene."
The Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service said they sent two appliances to the scene of the crash.
A spokesperson for the crew said: "Four of the casualties had self-extricated from the vehicles and fire crews rendered first aid to the person trapped in a vehicle before releasing the casualty using hydraulic rescue equipment. All five were taken to hospital by land ambulance."
