WELLS was lit up all over the town for a spectacular carnival, with many people saying it was one of the best in recent years.

Crowds showed up in huge numbers for the latest parade, put on to entertain people from all over the county.

With over 100 entrants, Newmarket CC with Tour de Somerset won best comic feature, and Rubalo JCC with Birds of Paradise won best juvenile feature.

Huckyduck Carnival Club once again picked up a win in the Brunel tableau securing a sixth successive win towards The Starkey Cup.

Speaking after being crowned overall winners at Wells Carnival this year, a spokesperson from Huckyduck CC spoke online: "Last night at Wells carnival we were awarded 1st place!
