It's not every day you expect to meet a Hollywood film star in Somerset, but a local business did, and they had the chance to meet a star who has appeared in films such as The Hobbit and Beauty and the Beast.

Welsh born actor Luke Evans was in Yeovil, Somerset, this past weekend (Saturday, November 16) as part of a visit to turn the town's Christmas lights on and talk about the release of his new book.

Luke was at the Yeovil Literary Festival signing copies of his new 'Boy From the Valleys: My Unexpected Journey' autobiography.

Local Yeovil business, CakeBoxYeovil, got to meet the actor who they described as "Inspiring, humble, and grounded".

The business gifted Luke a box of their "festive treats" after he signed some books.

Luke hit the silver screen with numerous projects during the early 2010s, paving the way for his ascending stardom.

Born in Wales and raised in the largely rural area of Aberbargoed, Evans moved to Cardiff as a teen to pursue music and drama before relocating to London for stage training and, eventually, won roles in West End musicals.

The actor eventually made his film breakthrough with the Clash of the Titans 2010 remake.

Speaking about Luke's reaction to some of their bakes, a spokesperson from CakeBoxBakery in Yeovil said: "He was thrilled with them, he said during his talk that he had a sweet tooth.

"Unfortunately, Luke didn't come into our shop.

"We arranged a meeting with him after his book talk at Westlands Leisure Centre and presented him with some cakes.

"Luke was a very humble and grounded man with an inspiring story to tell about his rise to stardom."
