AFTER the Glastonbury Carnival wrapped up this weekend, let's look at the overall winners for each category and pick our best photos of the Somerset carnival season.

The Somerset Carnivals for 2024 have ended, with clubs from the county narrowly beating out each other for the top awards, including the Starkey Cup.

Huckyduck Carnival Club were crowned overall champions with their Brunel themed tableaux winning their class at all seven of the Somerset Carnivals on their way to winning the County Cup.

Based in Coleford, East Somerset, Huckyduck is making history as the club wins for the third successive year.

The club won the cup outright in 2022 for 'When Movies Were Movies' and shared it with Ramblers CC last year with their 'December The 25th' entry.

Huckyduck also won The Biffen 50th Anniversary Cup for best tableau, the fourth straight occasion and six of the last seven years.

Newmarket CC with Tour de Somerset won best comic feature, ahead of Nee Naw by Nunsford Nutters CC and Oh Crop! By Cary Comedians CC.

Rubalo JCC with Birds of Paradise won best juvenile feature, finalising seven wins out of a possible seven this year, with Country Kidz from Hillview JCC in second place.

ABC CC with Beatlemania won the Group of Masqueraders (three-five) class - winning at all seven carnivals this year.

Speaking after being crowned overall winners for the Somerset circuit this year, a spokesperson from Huckyduck CC spoke online: "7 out of 7 wins!!!

"It's now time to say so many thank yous.

"Firstly to all the carnival committees and their volunteers for organising 8 fantastic carnivals.

"Your tireless work and efforts staging the carnivals do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated by us all, and secondly a massive thank you to our supporters for your kind comments and messages of congratulations.

"Dismantling Brunel now starts and we begin planning our 2025 entry.
