FIVE Somerset restaurants and takeaways with a food hygiene rating of one or zero, according to Somerset Council's food safety website.

In no particular order, here are the restaurants sorted from lowest to highest with a score of zero or one.

Golden Inn at 1 Wallbridge in Frome, BA11 1QY was last inspected on 28 August 28 and received a 0. 

Apple Tree Store at 107 Laxton Road, Taunton, TA1 2XU was last inspected by Somerset Council on 23 August 23 and also received a score of one, meaning major improvement to food safety is needed.

English Raj Restaurant at 54 Clare Street in Bridgwater, TA6 3EN received a score of 1 when Somerset Council food inspectors last visited on December 6, 2023.

King William Inn, King William Road, Catcott Bridgwater also received a score of one, when Somerset Council visited on 27 April 27 2023.

Tall Trees Glamping, Double House Farm, Coxbridge Drove, Coxbridge, Glastonbury. BA6 8LG received a one rating when last inspected on June 29 2021.

According to the Food Standards Agency, ratings are a snapshot of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection. It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.

This includes: handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities, how food safety is managed.
