Taunton-based fintech company Cardstream has appointed Gurinder Sumra as its new chief financial officer.

The 57-year-old is a chartered accountant with more than 30 years of experience in the payments sector.

He has previously worked at Elavon and FIS as the CFO of the European business divisions.

Mr Sumra said: "I wanted to join Cardstream, firstly, because of Adam Sharpe’s vision for the business.

"Secondly, our two tech stacks present a clear opportunity in the payments sector, which continues to evolve rapidly.

"Participation in the value chain is moving further away from traditional operators to merchants and their facilitators – and this is where Cardstream will win."

He will be responsible for partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions to help Cardstream's growth.

Adam Sharpe, Cardstream’s CEO, added: "Gurinder’s appointment is a statement of intent for the company.

"His experience, knowledge, and strategic approach will be vital for us as we fulfil our ambitious goals."

Mr Sumra continued: "Having been in this sector for many years, it’s clear how much potential Cardstream continues to have.

"It’s a brand that’s associated with the latest and best of innovation and one that is all about delivering for its customers and the industry."
