A TAUNTON primary school has announced that it will be closing after snow has fallen across Somerset.
Churchstanton Primary School is in a unique rural location, surrounded by the countryside in the Blackdown Hills.
The school is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the counties of Somerset and Devon, with the school achieving a high reputation within the community and beyond.
Today (November 21) the school has announced it will be closing due to the weather conditions.
The school has cited its 'remote location' as the reason it was forced to close.
Speaking about the closure, a spokesperson from the school said: "Due to our remote location, the heavy snow downfall, icy roads and the further heavy snow forecast we have made the decision to close the school.
"We will update parents regarding whether or not the school will be opening tomorrow [November 22] by 8pm tonight at the latest.
"Therefore, please may we ask for all parents to keep a close eye on their emails."
