A FAMILY-RUN campsite in Somerset has won the prestigious AA Glampsite of the Year Award for all of the UK.

Hadspen Glamping, founded by husband-and-wife duo Lucy and Robert Comer on Lime Kiln Ln, Castle Cary, has been providing holidaymakers with a winning mix of the great outdoors and an escape from city life with the luxury, privacy and comfort of a hotel since 2023.

And that winning mix has now earned them major recognition, picking up the AA Glampsite of the Year award for 2024.

The AA Campsite of the Year Awards is an annual recognition programme organised by the Automobile Association (AA) in the UK celebrating outstanding campsites and holiday parks across the country, highlighting those that offer exceptional facilities, service, and overall experience for campers.

Winners are selected based on assessments from AA inspectors, who evaluate campsites on criteria such as cleanliness, amenities, accessibility, and customer service.

The awards aim to promote high standards in camping and encourage more people to explore the great outdoors in the UK.

On the award win, Hadspen Glamping co-founder Lucy comer says: “Since opening our doors last year, we couldn’t have imagined the positive response from all our guests.

“It’s been wonderful to welcome everyone who has come to experience Hadspen Glamping and we’re incredibly honoured to have been given this award.”

Hadspen Glamping’s collaborations with local businesses also allow their guests to immerse themselves in the best of Somerset and surrounding counties.

Welcome baskets are filled with local produce and discount vouchers, providing a delicious introduction to the area.

Recommendations of local shops and suppliers can also be found in their online welcome guide to ensure guests feel at home before they arrive.
