ALTHOUGH it was a little early for a white Christmas, snow covered vast areas of Somerset today (November 21), much to the joy of many, and the misery of others.

The Met Office forecast snow in areas of the South West, and then issued a yellow weather warning for snow, which came into effect on this morning from 5am until 3pm.

Snow was seen from all over the county, with high-rise towns like Chard getting snow as deep as 5cm according to County Gazette readers.

The roads were a problem for some in Somerset, with severe delays on the A37 near Yeovil, and reports of cars skidding off on the road between Chard and Crewkerne.

Some schools were also forced to close with coaches/busses unable to travel in the county.

The Met Office has forecast no more snow for the foreseeable future - so although it's beautiful, many will be thankful that no further disruption will be caused.

There is however a yellow warning for icy conditions tomorrow across the South West.
