A Langport-based charity has launched a campaign to raise awareness of challenges faced by children and young adults with special educational needs (SEN) in accessing education.
Bibic are the brains behind 'Not Everyone is Back to School'.
It aims to highlight the difficulties faced by those with neurological and developmental difficulties and disabilities.
Gemma Pack, senior fundraising officer at bibic, explained: "There are over 1.6 million pupils in England classed as having special educational needs, and a worrying number of these children are missing from education entirely.
"117,000 children were missing from education at any time in 2022/23 and 35 per cent of pupils with an EHCP are classed as being persistently absent.
"These statistics alone demonstrate that many children and young adults with SEN are unable to access the education they need and so rightly deserve."
The campaign is supported by JCDecaux Community Channel, which is providing out-of-home advertising space to spread awareness.
Pip Buckley, CEO, added: "We are thrilled to partner with JCDecaux Community Channel to enable our campaign to reach a wider audience.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to really shine a light on our charity and the incredible work we do to support families."
