THE Environment Agency has issued a fresh set of flood warnings for Somerset and Devon this weekend (24 to 24 November, 2024) as a result of the weather associated with Storm Bert.

South Somerset
Areas Affected: Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead; Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road; the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges.
The lower River Parrett is forecast to be bankfull and overtopping could occur. The Environment Agency is checking rivers for blockages and monitoring rainfall and river levels.
Affected Areas: Combe Martin, Lynton, Exford, and Exebridge.
Expected levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to rivers from around 10pm on Saturday 23rd November. The Environment Agency expects rivers to remain high throughout Sunday and may issue further flood warnings if required.
River Axe
Affected areas: South Chard, Buckland St. Mary, Axminster, Seaton, and Stockland.
Flooding is possible on Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday. Heavy rain associated with Storm Bert is forecast from lunchtime Saturday until early Sunday morning. Catchments are wet following rainfall earlier in the week. River levels are expected to be high from 10pm Saturday night and remain high throughout Sunday.
