A STUNNING new floral mural has been unveiled on the side of a flower shop in Taunton’s Independent Quarter.

The community-funded public artwork, which was designed and created by Sam Gaden of Aerosol Art, is on the side of Nickys Flower Studio.

It’s the latest mural commissioned for the town, following the ‘Mother Nature’ artwork on the side of the multi-storey car park above Taunton Library, which was completed in June 2024. All the artwork is commissioned through fundraising, which people can donate to by visiting: https://bit.ly/4fXIBlO

Speaking about the mural, Nicky Healy, florist at Nickys Flower Studio for 13 years, said: “Susie from Rocket and Bird has organised it all and Sam from Aerosol Art completed the design."

“The original idea was to have flowers on the wall, similar to a Victorian still life painting with a black background. It makes the flowers stand out.”

Sam Gaden took one week to complete the artwork, which showcases four brightly coloured flowers and makes an inviting, eye-catching addition to Taunton Independent Quarter.

“The mural really improves the area and is a real talking point”, Nicky added.

Susie Thomas, of Rocket & Bird, said: “The project is really about creating beautiful places in an area where there are lots of independent businesses.”

“We try really hard to market the area, and I’m amazed at the response we’ve had on Facebook about the mural.”

A further mural is planned for the side of Howard’s Fish & Chips shop, which is planned to be be completed in spring 2025.
