A dad is running an 'emotional' 630-mile route as a tribute to his son - who tragically took his life at the age of 17.
Tom Keys-Toyer, 51, embarked on a run along the South West Coastal Path three weeks ago in Minehead in Somerset in memory of his son Sam.
Tom, from Bristol, is nearing the finish line - with only 130 miles remaining.
Tom's challenge is a tribute to his son Sam, who tragically took his own life in 2020 at the young age of 17.
By running the entire South West Coast Path, Tom aims to raise awareness and funds for positive mental health support in boys and young men. Donate here: https://app.goodhub.com/swcp
He said: "This run has been a physical and emotional challenge, but the support I've received has been overwhelming.
"Knowing that am dedicating this run to my middle son Sam spurs me on every step and the fact I'm raising awareness and funds for Boys in Mind, a cause so close to mine and my family’s heart, keeps me going.
"I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated, shared my story, and cheered me on.
"And I hope this challenge has raised the much-needed awareness that it is ok for boys and young men to be vulnerable, to talk and share their worries and that it is so important for them to look after their minds.
"I hope that this challenge encourages boys and young lads to open up."
He is expected to complete his run in Poole, Dorset, around 12pm on Saturday, November 30 – having ran an average of 28 miles per day.
Tom's challenge has resonated with supporters across the country.
And a dedicated support crew follows him in a motorhome, providing meals, hydration, and essential supplies.
They camp or find suitable rest stops each night - preparing Tom for the next day's 26-mile challenge.
He has already surpassed his initial fundraising target of £10,000, with donations currently exceeding £32,000 for Boys in Mind - a Bath-based charity dedicated to tackling the stigma surrounding mental health in young men.
Tom has made some inspiring videos along the challenge along with his eldest son Oli together they have shared his advice for those struggling.
