SOME of the Christmas lights in Taunton town centre failed yesterday (Tuesday, November 26).

Taunton Town Council said they are aware of the problem and a contractor will work “to resolve the issue as soon as possible”.

A Taunton Town Council spokesperson said: “We know that there has been a problem with some of our Christmas lights.

“The contractor has been notified and aims to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

“We hope to have Taunton back to full festive cheer shortly.”

Taunton Christmas lights were place in different areas of the town, including a present in the Orchard Shopping Centre and two reindeer to accompany the town's Christmas tree at The Market House.

The Winterfest event this year was cancelled due to the disruption caused by Storm Bert.

A town council spokesperson said the contractor will be on site to establish the cause of the issue and repair the lights.
