A PRIMARY school and nursery has improved its Ofsted rating after the latest inspection.
The Knights Templar Community Church School in Watchet was recently graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted from a previous ‘Requires Improvement’ status.
In 2022, the school had been judged good in three areas and requires improvement in the areas of Quality of Education and Leadership and Management which had given them an overall grading of Requires Improvement.
From September 2024, Ofsted removed the overall effectiveness judgement whilst retaining the five separate judgements.
Headteacher Laura Weaver said: “The Ofsted inspection in October was very detailed and rigorous and I am so proud that the progress the school has made since the last inspection has been acknowledged with Good judgements now being awarded in all five areas.
“I would like to thank all those who took part in the inspection: staff, governors, parents and especially the children across both the school and nursery.
“The report itself highlights the many elements of good provision at Knights Templar Community Church School and Nursery as well as the next steps needed to take the school forward on its continued journey of improvement.
“I am particularly proud that our inclusive ethos has been recognised as a considerable strength of the school alongside our ambitious curriculum, our early years provision and our relational approach to managing behaviour.
“In the final feedback to Governors and Senior Leaders, we were very touched to hear that 100 per cent of the parents who had completed the Ofsted survey would recommend the school; the Ofsted inspectors themselves remarked they had never seen such a positive response.
“In summing up our school, the lead inspector stated: “What underpins the school’s work is your approach to demonstrating care and love and building positive relationships. Everyone wants the best for every child.
“I am so proud to be leading a team who strive to be the best they can be and want the best for each individual child in our care.”
