THE finalists of the world-famous Turnip Prize 2024 have been announced as the competition enters its 26th year.
This year saw 69 entries to the "crap art" competition, which sees people from across the county attempt to create something that they perceive to be art worthy – but which takes the least amount of effort possible.
The Turnip Prize started in 1999, when artist Tracey Emin's 'My Bed' was nominated for the prestigious Turner Prize.
The modern art piece proved controversial, and Trevor Prideaux took inspiration from that to create his own spoof art award – the Turnip Prize.
The four finalists for 2024 include:
- “Post Office Sandal” by Revd Paula F U Jitsu
- “Sycamore Gap” by Tim Burr
- “Inflation” by Mrs Penny Saver
- “Tax in Creases” by Wonga Woman
The presentation for this year’s Turnip Prize will take place at 6pm on Tuesday, December 3 at The New Inn, Combe Batch, Wedmore, Somerset. BS28 4DU.
