POPULAR Somerset–based drag queen Valerie VonHussle, who has been “dazzling audiences” all over the South West for the last three years, will be performing across Taunton residential care homes for the Christmas build-up.
Valerie’s latest festive initiative aims to bridge the gap between the queer community and the older generation, starting with a partnership with The Firs Nursing Home.
In a bid to address the still “somewhat lacking diversity in the area”, Valerie is using her talents to give back to the community and promote inclusivity.
By partnering with The Firs and other local care homes, she seeks to provide something new and exciting for residents and their families.
The next event will be at The Firs Nursing Home on Monday, December 16, as part of their Annual Christmas Celebrations.
Valerie has been performing at a variety of events, including the Official Bristol Pre-Pride Party 2024, co-hosting Taunton Pride 2024 as part of Taunton’s Drag Collective, and a guest appearance at Reds Hair Salon's Christmas Event.
“I believe it’s important to share love and positivity, as well as awareness. By entertaining and engaging with the residents, I hope to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation ofthe queer community,” Valerie said.

"Acceptance of diversity is so important, no matter what your beliefs are, our residents at The Firs Care Centre, many of whom have dementia, love to be entertained, and music is so important,” Johanna Garret, events manager at The Firs Nursing Home.
“The fabulous Valerie Vonhussle provides not only musical entertainment but also a magnificent visual display through her outstanding outfits and personality. We know her performance will be fabulous as always, and our residents will love her act.”
Johanna added: “Valerie Vonhussle has become a firm friend of the Firs, demonstrating that no matter what your gender, age, or disability, music and performance will always bridge the gap.
