WORK to remove a tree from a park in Taunton will start next week.

A Honey Chestnut affected by fungus will be removed from Greenway Recreation Ground for public safety.

Taunton Town Council said work will start on Monday, December 2.

A spokesperson said: “Following an inspection, one of the mature Horse Chestnuts, at the playpark end of Leslie Avenue, has been affected by honey fungus and needs to be removed for public safety.

“A section of trunk will be left in place to act as a wildlife habitat, replacements will be planted.”
