A TAUNTON weekly parkrun has celebrated its 500th event.
Last week, Taunton Longrun Meadow marked its 500th run.
A total of 433 people ran, jogged, and walked the course, of whom 45 were first timers and 32 recorded new personal bests, representing 34 different clubs.
Jamie Hill, the event’s director, arranged for the Sheriff of Taunton to attend.
The Mayor of Taunton, Cllr Vanessa Garside, also joined the event along with MP Gideon Amos.
Longrun Meadow Parkrun started on October 5, 2013.
Since then, 17,883 participants have completed 146,023 parkruns covering a total distance of 730,115 km, including 22,047 new personal bests.
A total of 1,393 individuals have volunteered 10,326 times.
