THE president, Marion Hutter, opened the April meeting of West Buckland WI with a warm welcome to all, including four new members and four visitors.
Those who attended the Craft Day at Oake had a thoroughly enjoyable time arranging flowers and making greetings cards and Easter biscuits. Members were reminded of the dinner at The Old Bear Restaurant in Taunton on May 1 and that payment was due for 'My Fair Lady' tickets.
The Golf Croquet season this year begins on April 22 and the Reading Group has proved to be so popular that two further meetings will be held each month.
Marion Hutter proposed forming a group to give members the opportunity to 'Sing for Fun'. The first meeting will be held on May 19.
Sue Bridger made a welcome return to demonstrate cooking a meal in half an hour. As she worked, Sue answered questions and gave useful tips. The food was raffled at the end of the evening, so four lucky members were able to enjoy it at home. Sue donates her fees to MacMillan Cancer Support and, with a small donation to the charity, members were able to obtain the recipes to cook at home.
The group is holding its resolution meeting on May 12 when members will also be hearing how to succeed at flower and produce shows.
