CHILDREN of Saint John Fisher Catholic Church in Wellington were again active on May 30 when the group preparing to make their First Holy Communion on July 5 had a break from their studies with a minibus outing to Cannington Court Gardens, near Bridgwater, and Kilve beach.
In a spirit of fun, friendship and faith, they enjoyed the giant games on Cannington Garden’s lawns and the exotic plants in the temperate and tropical glasshouses, part of Bridgwater College’s centre for land-based studies.
The group took a spiritual interlude with a brief prayer in the adjacent parish church of Saint Mary the Virgin before driving on to Kilve, where they had fun exploring rock pools along the seashore.
A day of stunning sunshine left the group grateful to Michael Morgan, business manager at the Saint Augustine of Canterbury School, Taunton, for the loan of the minibus; which was driven by Father Bob Rainbow, parish priest of St John Fisher Church and a part-time chaplain at St Augustine’s.
