ON Saturday September 26, 21 members of the Parchment Craft Guild met in the Frank Bond Centre.
The day consisted of a meeting to gather thoughts from the members, so that the S.W. co-ordinator could take them to the Guild AGM to be held in Preston on Sunday October 25. The main concerns were that the members wanted clarification on the various techniques required for all exam levels and the new system of paying membership fees.
In attendance at the meeting was the stand-in Chair of the UK Parchment Craft Guild, Alison Yeates, who had travelled from Hampshire and Christine Coleman, a TV parchment craft demonstrator from Holcombe Rogus, both Fellows in the Guild, which is the top exam level to be achieved.
The next Parchment Craft Guild Day will be held in Taunton on Saturday March 27, 2010.
After lunch made by Audrey Burden, the members had the privilege of watching two demonstrations, one by Alison Yeates on painting and the other by Christine Coleman who covered embossing.
Members from Somerset and Devon requested that a club was started. This club would be open to anyone doing parchment craft and maybe interested in finding out more about the Guild. Anyone interested in being part of this new venture, should contact the S.W. Parchment Craft Guild Co-ordinator, Celia on 07990-674362.
