YOU need to be quick off the mark if you want to put the spotlight on your favourite Somerset hero.
Nominations are being sought by BBC Somerset Sound for the person who has brought the most glory to the county, but they need to be lodged by Monday (February 2).
Anyone famous from Somerset can be nominated, whether they are an artist, inventor, musician or someone who has made a mark in their chosen field to put Somerset on the map.
A panel of judges, including the County Gazette's Editor-in-Chief Ken Bird, will select the overall winner and Somerset's hero will then go forward to battle it out for South-West winner. BBC West will make a 40-minute TV documentary about the overall winner, which will be screened in March.
To nominate a Somerset local hero contact Jo Phillips at BBC Somerset Sound on 01823-368181 or vote on line at www(dot)bbc.co.uk/somerset by February 2.
