A POINT each was not what either side really wanted from this Jolly's Combination League clash, but overall it was no more than either deserved after a 2-2 draw.

On a heavy surface much of the match produced scrappy football with defences generally on top, but after making the brighter start the home side took a tenth minute lead when Neil Rudkin got past a couple of defenders and hit a cross to the far post where Scott Bain gratefully knocked the ball into the net against his former club.

Mullion got back into the game ten minutes later when Rob Bray linked with Richard Turner before cutting in and firing his angled shot past the 'keeper.

Having fought back from conceding a goal, five minutes later Mullion had turned the game right round when they edged in front with Turner's high, up and under into the box causing confusion in the home defence for Stuart Fordyce to score.

Culdrose had the better of the remainder of the half as they put Mullion under pressure, but stand-in 'keeper Danny Hickey performed well and dealt with everything that came his way.

There was little to choose between the sides in the early stages of the second half, but on the hour Culdrose levelled the scores when Bain headed in a cross from Steve Young.

Culdrose edged possession as the half wore on and went close with a couple of chances, but Mullion enjoyed a good last ten minutes and thought they had scored the winner with five minutes to go.

Two defenders failed to clear the ball properly and struck it straight at Fordyce. In his own half, he sprinted for goal and scored only for it to be controversially ruled out for handball by the assistant referee.
