Goss Moor public inquiry under way (Packet, January 14).
I don't know if other readers have kept count of the number of these inquiries we've had over countless years, but for my part - I've lost count! However, along with all the similar "talking shops" it is seemingly an ongoing, costly game, ie how long can county and local councils keep these verbal pots boiling without actually doing anything of a constructive nature?
Given most of those concerned in these hot-air exercises represent large numbers of their respective constituents - be they local councillors or MPs - I suggest that it is about time these elected representatives of thousands (the non-objecting, local majority) got on with doing something rather succumbing ad infinitum to a tiny but vociferous minority of objectors, many of whom do not even reside locally but object to all or anything, as part of their perverse hobby.
Let's get democracy into its proper commonsense perspective and if that is not (as it seems) possible get rid of the political system that fails us in this all-important respect.
