After having to sleep rough in Truro for two months, I was admitted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, with pneumonia. When discharged, I was back on the streets and photographed by the Packet in Truro.
I continually asked Social Services for help but they said there was nowhere for me to stay so they sent me to Plymouth to a retirement home. I travelled there alone and arrived not knowing what to expect.
I was told by Social Services it was £308 per week and after deducting my pension, I would get £17.50 to live on. They did not tell me that many of the other inmates suffer from senile dementia. It's hell.
I saw a doctor here in Stoke and he advised me to get out.
Social Services at Truro want me to stay three months and then they say they will try and find me a place in Falmouth or Truro. I think they ought to be exposed as since I was driven out of Falmouth, I have lived like a hunted animal. So much for war services to my country.
