Carlton Farnham's superb individual stoppage-time goal gave Cornwall all three points in a highly entertaining SW Counties Championship game at Cwmbran on Saturday.
After a bright start Cornwall fell behind after 32 minutes when Jason Thorne (Caldicot Town) volleyed home from close range.
Although both sides had chances the half ended with Gwent sitting comfortably on their one goal advantage.
Cornwall increased their work-rate in the second half as they went searching for an equaliser.
In the 70th minute Cornwall's captain Dan Lean (St Blazey) hit the Gwent upright with a low drive from a free kick.
Cornwall piled on even more pressure and they were rewarded in the 75th minute when Luke Weldhen (Newquay) angled his across the goal into the corner of the net.
Cornwall had a great chance to take the lead in the 85th minute when they were awarded a penalty following a handball infringement. However, this time Lean rattled his penalty against the cross bar.
Play switched immediately to put Gwent into a goal scoring situation, however Cornwall were indebted to goalkeeper Rob Brown (Dobwalls ) who made an outstanding save.
With time almost up Farnham jinked passed a bemused Gwent defence and calmly slotted home from close range to the utter joy of his team mates.
Cornwall left it oh so late but deserved their victory.
