A CELEBRATION of 25 years service to the county council by some of its staff members took place in Truro last week.
More than 35 long service medals were handed out at County Hall, in Truro, to employees ranging from school crossing patrols to chief officers.
County chairman Philip Tregunna presided over the ceremony with people attending from all over the county.
Those receiving their awards for 25 years service were:
Mrs Janet Boon, of Hendrawna Lane, Perranporth, currently deputy head of year at Penair School, where she started as a PE teacher in 1978.
Mrs Patricia Bostock-Smith, of Fore Street, Tregony, currently headteacher at Treyew CP School, where she has been since 1997.
Mrs Margaret Bradwell, from Trispen, who has been a "rising fives auxiliary" at Trenance Infant School since 1978.
Mr Philip Bunt, of Trelawney Road, Camborne, headteacher at Mullion School since 1997.
Mr Steven R Burrows, of Oakland Park, Falmouth, for his work in planning transport and estates.
Mr Stephen Edwards, of Tolcarne Road, Vogue, a former head of foreign languages at Penair School, Truro, currently teaching French and German in a 50 per cent job share.
Mr Peter Flett, of Tregarrick Close, Helston, currently head of humanities at Redruth School.
Mrs Mary Gahan, of Mount Pleasant Road, Camborne, a teacher at St John's Catholic Primary School since 1978.
Other awards went to:
Mrs Jackie Hodge, of Sunny Corner, Portreath, and Mrs Daphne James, of Broad Lane, who has worked as a school crossing patrol and as a lunchtime supervisor for the education department.
Mr Terence Lister, of Kerley Vale, Chacewater, who has been headteacher at St Uny School since September 1986.
Mr Philip John Rowe was given his 25 years service medal for his work at Richard Lander School, Truro, as a teacher since 1978. He is currently curriculum areas head in modern foreign languages.
Mrs Jill Wadham, of Rosevean Road, Penzance, currently an advanced skills teacher at Camborne Science and Community College.
Site manager Colin Sandles, of Penvale Crescent, Penryn, was given his medal for 25 years service to Penryn Junior School.
Others in the planning, transportation and estates department at County Hall included Mr Jonathan Walters, from Camborne, Mr Ross Williams, of Threemilestonek, and Mr Peter Woodford, of Chacewater.
