WEST Ham United are monitoring the progression of Yeovil Town's talented goalkeeper Chris Weale by taking him training for two days a week.
Weale spent a successful trial period with the Hammers last week which saw him keep a clean sheet in the West Ham Reserves' 2-0 victory over Arsenal.
West Ham are still very interested in the 21-year-old Glovers star, although they have yet to decide whether or not to sign him.
The Nationwide League Division One club currently have Arsenal reserve keeper Rami Shaaban on loan as cover for Stephen Bywater.
And Yeovil boss Gary Johnson said: "I can't see there being any point at the moment in Chris going to West Ham and being third choice keeper. He needs to be playing regularly."
But Shaaban's loan spell comes to an end in the middle of February and it might be then that West Ham boss Alan Pardew, a former Yeovil player of the mid-1980s, might swoop for Weale.
In the meantime, however, Pardew and Johnson have agreed for Weale to train with the Hammers for two days a week if fixtures allow.
Johnson said: "West Ham have not gone cold on the situation. They are still very keen. But they are going through a big transitional period at the moment.
"I think Chris going to train with them for a couple of days a week will be good for him and it won't effect him while playing for us.
"There is nothing to suggest that West Ham don't want him. They know he is a good keeper and they don't need to look at him.
"The idea of him training with them is just to let Chris and us know that they haven't lost their interest."
And Johnson added: "West Ham have had a couple of good results recently, if they hadn't then perhaps Chris might have already signed for them."
