People living in Mullion are being asked to help the police catch those responsible for a recent spate of vandalism and thefts in and around the village.

Officers are investigating a series of crimes which have taken place over the past few weeks.

The latest incidents include the theft of four solarpowered lights from the garden of a property in Commons Close last Wednesday or Thursday, a tree in the Millennium Garden off Lender Lane being snapped in half some time between Wednesday and Friday and the theft of the front gate at a house in Redannack North last Thursday night.

Other recent incidents have seen plants in Tremenhee car park damaged, plants stolen from the Lender Lane garden, seven terracotta garden pots stolen from a premises in Nansmellyon Road and milk stolen twice from the same doorstep in Lender Lane.

Addressing parish councillors at their monthly meeting last week, local neighbourhood beat manager WPc Laraine George said police were keen to bring those responsible to book, but needed assistance from the public in gathering details of specific incidents.

Council chairman John Lang said the police, and the village's neighbourhood wardens, should be supported in their efforts to crack down on the vandalism before it became an "epidemic".
