DESPITE fielding a below strength side Chard town came close to securing a great win against Bitton in Division One of the Screwfix League.
Following a midweek fixture mix-up the Robins were forced to draft five Colts players into the squad, but they more than held their own against a side who could well be playing Premier Division football next season.
Chard had the better chances before Bitton finally took the lead on 75 minutes and then secured victory with a controversial late penalty. Final score Bitton 2, Chard 0.
