SHOPLIFTERS in Chard stooped to a new low last week, stealing a clock which had been loaned to a charity shop.
The cream and gold timepiece was part of a window display, promoting CATS' forthcoming pantomime, Cinderella, at Help the Aged's shop in Fore Street.
It had been loaned to the shop by Pauline Case, whose husband, Bill, is a former chairman of the theatre society and is appearing in the pantomime as Buttons.
* The stolen clock is described as five to six inches tall, cream and gold, with black hands and Roman numerals.
