Bridgwater could be transformed by a £40million project to protect Sedgemoor from flooding and bring massive economic benefits to the town.
For years the idea of putting a sluice gate in the Dunball area of the River Parrett has been talked about.
The scheme could now become a reality after Sedgemoor District Council identified it as a priority.
