Plymouth Argyle moved five points clear at the top of the Second Division following their 2-0 away win at Stockport, and QPR's loss to Bournemouth.
David Friio and Graham Coughlan were Argyle's scorers as they eased away from their London rivals, who have been chasing them in second place. Bristol City, in third, remain 10 points behind the Pilgrims.
Paul Sturrock was delighted with his team's performance, and must be pleased with rookie keeper Luke McCormick, who has now kept seven clean sheets on the trot for the Pilgrims.
